so Internet ads may not be much different.

Except that, for the Internet ads, the initial presentation seen by the viewer is very nominal and failing to click on that means that 99% of the intended message content has never been delivered. Compare this, for example, to a TV where failing to click a button on the first 1 second of a commercial would cause it to freeze on that initial frame until the time duration of the commercial was over.
