A Merrill Lynch fund manager who dumped his NT shares a few weeks back mentioned that Alcatel was suggesting that some of its competitors were offering very generous financing packages to close business. The most aggressive was supposedly NT. Now that the PM was out of NT, he appeared to have no problem piling on and questioning some of NT's recent deals such as one with AETH on which NT provided financing. Supposedly a lot of customers and potential customers don't have the access to credit they would like. The PM noted that even BT couldn't complete an offering they wanted to do in the summer.
