Nader Update:

Gore has enlisted liberal lawmakers and labor leaders to make this case, with longtime associates urging Nader to suspend campaigning in toss-up states that could tip to Bush. And the Democratic National Committee announced plans to target Nader voters in Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin and Washington with appearances by progressive political figures like feminist Gloria Steinem and singer Melissa Etheridge.

But instead of bowing out, Nader will campaign on Tuesday in Michigan and Minnesota. He has also stepped up his criticism of the vice president, taking pains to highlight ``Gore's broken promises.''
