Informix Business Solutions Delivers Platform Independent Solutions for Web and Wireless Business Intelligence; New Company Announces Comprehensive e-Intelligence Framework

WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 30, 2000--Informix Business Solutions, an independent operating company of Informix(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:IFMX), today announced an e-Intelligence Framework comprised of core infrastructure services and analytic solutions aimed at increasing customers' "return on information." The e-Intelligence Framework provides an infrastructure for information access, analysis and delivery aimed at exploiting the volume and velocity of information distributed on the Internet. The framework also addresses the increased demand for customized analytic applications that enable companies to better understand their customers, supply-chains and financial operations. With this announcement, Informix Business Solutions, which will be renamed by year end, is enabling customers to access, categorize and deliver enterprise information assets irrespective of the desktop or mobile environment.

Informix Business Solutions' e-Intelligence Framework is a database-independent, flexible offering consisting of an e-business portal, industry and Web analytic packages and the industry's leading data and meta data integration infrastructure. These products deliver personalized enterprise information to a broad market, including mid- to large-sized enterprises, hybrid click-and-mortars and pure-play e-businesses, enabling organizations to gain a transparent view of both traditional and online operations.

"For e-businesses to best leverage their existing business intelligence investments, they need to look for product solutions with an open infrastructure that ensures quality and integrated data," said Colin White, founder, DataBase Associates. "The Informix Business Solutions' e-Intelligence Framework provides customers with an open infrastructure and leading data quality and integration capabilities for creating business intelligence and Web analytics."

Informix Business Solutions recognized the market need for a solution set that supports the profiling and segmentation of customer information, leverages on-demand data capture and analysis capabilities, and integrates e-business operations (B2B and B2C) with traditional back- and front-office. The company created the e-Intelligence Framework to help corporations create and profit from information assets and extend business intelligence (BI) to customers, partners and employees.

"The newly formed Informix Business Solutions is firmly positioned to better enable customers such as The Hartford Insurance Group to leverage existing BI products, gain competitive advantage in today's market and maximize business performance," said Fred Robinson, enterprise information architect, The Hartford Insurance Group. "We are excited to continue working with Informix Business Solutions as they build on their established technology leadership in BI with platform-independent solutions for information management."

"In today's information intensive e-business environment, it is critical that decision-makers across the entire organization are able to rapidly access relevant enterprise information to make more informed business decisions," said Peter Fiore, president, Informix Business Solutions. "The e-Intelligence Framework delivers industry-leading solutions that help customers integrate, update and share information via the Web and wireless interfaces. With the addition of a BI portal and mainframe data integration capabilities, we are providing customers with a complete BI infrastructure solution that enables key decision-makers to better act upon BI assets in a timely and accurate way."

Products announced as a part of this launch include:

-- Axielle(TM) e-Intelligence Portal Services: an e-intelligence

portal that connects decision-makers across an organization's

enterprise to information and applications, regardless of

source or location, and enables business users to share this

information through both Web and wireless interfaces. Its

companies to categorize and search their information assets,

delivering the necessary results in device independent fashion

anywhere and anytime.

Its scaleable architecture enables native parallel processing,

servers, message-based systems such as MQSeries and ERP

systems. DataStage XE includes a data quality assessment

data management services including the exchange and sharing of

meti data from a wide variety of business intelligence and

data modeling tools, as well as unique meta data usage and

analysis and Web browsing tools for both IT staff and end
