Most teachers are fairly compensated for their work.

Actually, I'm quite in disagreement with you...

Teachers ARE underpaid... but the way to resolve the issue are for more merit based raises to offered, rewarding excellence and increasing competition among teachers with a financial incentive.

I'll never forgot how my own high school lost one the best biology teachers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, simply because he could make more money than our small town could offer him, despite the fact that some more mediocre teachers were making the same salary as he was.

Btw, I also offer praise to those who volunteer their time to our local schools. I know X is angry at me right now, but I think it's really cool she spends so much time subbing. I also subbed when I first graduated from college..

But I knew the jig was up when this 2nd grade boy came up to me, look up at my 6'3, broad-sholdered frame and announced, "I know who you are!!! You're Kindergarten Cop!!!"

I lost all ability to control them after that.... <VBG>
