Is it about 'scaring' or is it about valuation concerns in the context of historical numbers and current economic conditions.

I'd strongly recommend you read a very fine piece that's out this evening from Mr. Brett D. Fromson at The Street.com thestreet.com

It's a very balanced article and looks at the current market for tech stocks.

It is also important to remember that there is some trouble right now with both corporate debt (riskier bonds) and consumer debt (negative net savings). While a recession may not happen over night, there are tell tale signs that things are progressing in that direction. To be optimistic about the future, and hence to want to buy into any potential winter rally in the market, we have to see some signs that things are improving.

Where will those 'improvements' or positive vibes come from that trigger a rally?
- the US election ?
- the price of energy (oil & gas)
- the Middle East ?
- the Euro ?
- the Asian markets ?
- the Taiwan/China dispute ?
- the Internet ?

All these are potential factors that can turn good or bad in the near or long term. But none of them are shaping up to have an ostensibly positive impact on the market.
One can be optimistic, but it's safer to be wise, is it not ?

You can place your bets in the stock market, or you can watch from the sidelines and wait until it is apparent that more variables favor a positive outcome.

Best wishes.
