Hello Frederick,

> I've been out of town since last Tuesday.

I hope that you had a great trip!

> I'm really amazed by the level of bitterness and
> negativity toward the outside world.

I'm going to have to assume that you are talking about yourself. If you are attempting to point a finger at me, then you are completely off base. My posts have not been writing to the "outside world" in general ... they have been very specific posts to you. Period.

> I am simply a mirror for just one part of this world.
> Sadly, what you mirror to me reflects volumes on what's
> being mirrored inside to others on the outside.

I guess that is one way to look at life. But how powerless ... poor Fred ... he has no control of his destiny ... he is simply a mirror. IMHO, we all have complete control over our lives and complete control over the choices that we make. You are making the choices to attack specific people in Novell people and make accusations and judgements of their actions. You are also suggesting that yours is the only possible explanation ... there can be no other positive one ... no, it's all doom and gloom with Fred. (Well ... of course if we shot a few specific people, then Fred says that world would be a better place!) ;-)

> And I'm not just talking about you, for you are simply
> part of the same culture that's supporting this approach.

Of course ... nice stereotyping there ... I guess that I could make some broad generalizations about people "like you" also ...

> Face it, I am a threat to Stewart, you and others from the
> Old Guard inside Novell.

Ah, but there you make the fatal error of judgement ... you see, you are only a threat if I chose to make you one. You have no control over my choices in life ... they are mine. You are no threat to me ... you are simply a Don Quixote chasing after the imagined enemies and telling us all of your adventures.

> If I wasn't then I'd have received a call by now.

Consider that there are numerous possibilities on why you have not received your call ... and that one of them might be your personality and presentation? I know that you talk a lot ... but do you even walk the walk?

Aren't you willing to own that maybe *you* are why you have not received the call? And that it has nothing to do with your "threatening" nature?

> Stewart, you and all the rest of you who support this

I'm glad that you chose to tell me this ... I wouldn't have known otherwise. I'll jot down a note so that I can remember this.

If you really want to know what *I* am up to, and doing, then feel free to ask ... outside of that, please don't waste your time on creating these fantasy stories and lies. They only weaken your position ...

> Sure, you said "I'm sorry, I acted out, was wrong and
> would like to apologize profusely."

No ... this is not what I said. I would suggest that you be very careful when you make the choice to post false quotes from me! I'll ask you now to reference the source of this quote ...

Fred, you continue to make up stories and lies ... I have been very clear about what I realized and what I am now creating ...

They had complete control to do what they wanted. I had complete control over what I wanted to do. I saw a simple possibility that I wanted to attain, and I took the steps to attain it. Very simple.

You stated that you were going to do the same ... you stated that you were going to talk with Stewart Nelson, but then you chose to take some very interesting steps to attain it and you have failed. Maybe the steps that you took were non-optimal?

As for where I live, this is another choice that I make with my life. I really like it here in Utah. Will I stay here forever? Don't know. But for now, the offers that I received to move just were not attractive enough. The Bay Area has some value, but is not the lifestyle that I prefer. The high-tech community is picking up steam here in Utah, and there are more and more start-ups and companies moving here. I don't know of any ex-Novell employee who could not find interesting work.

I made the choice to complete something that I wanted to complete. That's what I'm up to!

> What's on the outside is now the enemy. Very much in line
> with the thinking inside to begin with.

I guess if you say so Fred ...

> You challenged these folks and could not follow through
> for whatever reason.

No ... I walked away from something that I was not being successful in creating. And I am able to look at it now and understand that ... and own it. And I am now on a track to create even more ... and enjoying it. And I am working with a lot of good engineers and product management people, marketing people, and executives who all want to see Novell be what it can be.

> Many, many left before and after you and my guess is that

People come and go ... and they create their own stories about all of the things going on. And then they go elsewhere and see the same things ...

Wow ... sounds almost like you are describing Fred Smart there! Why not look in the mirror! Or better yet, why don't you get off your chair and walk the walk ... get involved and speak from a position of knowledge, rather than fantasy!

> Calling Stewart Nelson is NOT the answer or focus anymore.

Ah, so you admit that you failed to attain your committed goal? Fred Smart ... not able to get a simple return phone call? Wow ... and of course it has nothing to do with Fred and his attitude and approach! ;-)

Wow ... I have to admit that if you really just don't see it, then I don't know what to say ...

> I was the featured speaker at a dinner this past week

Wow ... sounds great.

Great ... sounds wonderful!

Got it!

So let's review this ... I'm going to assume that this is a bi-directional rule?

" YOU [Fred Smart] and anyone else who feels negative about
what I write and share is responsible for the feelings that
are engendered."

So YOU are creating this in me? ;-)

> I'm not going to get into this childish crap about

So are you saying now that you are going to stop attacking and blaming Stewart? Is that we we all have just heard from the lips of Fred Smart!?!?!? EXCELLENT!

> I certainly have decided to OWN my own feelings over this

Wait ... I though you stated:

> I'm not going to get into this childish crap about
> blaming, shaming, etc. Hey, we are all adults.

> And I'm not one to shut up.

We know that! Neither am I! ;-)

> Shareholders have chosen to leave.

Yep ... and some have stayed, and some new people have arrived, and more will go, then more will come, and the cycle will continue for a long time ... your point is?

> Just my thoughts Scott. Nothing to get bitter, angry or

Got it. I'll let the readers make their own choices ...

Wow ... all I can say is "Likewise! Ditto!"

Likewise! Ditto!
