<edited>Hi j - thanks. I don't know. Even he claimed his slip up is a private comment. I mean, if he were an up front guy, should he simply pick up the phone and call the individual? The newspaper is more than willing to allow an OpEd column. Why hold a grudge? To be fair, I don't know Jr enough to say if he has different persona, but strong characters like the late Senator Barry Goldwater [conservative, remember the speech "extremism for freedom, liberty... is no vice" [not exact quote, but close enough :)] or the late RFK [liberal] seem to be more the kind of call-a-spade-a-spade person you intimated.
Anyway, like I said, I am rather apolitical, since I do admire great characters, including BG and RFK I have cited, of all strips. My point is that when someone claims to have high moral characters, s/he should be in-character at all times, 24/7. Of course, this is not likely. People seeking this sort of qualities are more often than not disillusioned. After all, a moral equivalence of a Grandhi [of every sort of political persuasion] comes about quite infrequently.
