Update VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2000--First American Scientific (OTCBB:FASC)

Beau Pre Explorations Ltd Joint Venture:
Preliminary assay results from Beau Pre bench tests prove that the KDS is capable of extracting microscopic particles of gold "flower gold" from the Beau Pre ore. This is a clear indication that the KDS is very effective in liberating gold present in the hard quartz rock without the use of harmful chemicals.

According to Cal Kantonen, President of FASC, "this could be the breakthrough we have been working towards. The new high strength boron chains have handled the impact of the quartz ore without showing any visible signs of wear." Further testing of higher volumes of product is to continue and if proven economically feasible, the "new" KDS machine will be readied for set up on the Valentine Mountain property pursuant to the company's 50/50 profit sharing agreement with Beau Pre. Vancouver Test Center.

Over the last 90 days the KDS Micronex System has been significantly enhanced to provide variable controls for mesh size, temperature, airflow and volume, substantially increasing the systems adaptability in processing a broad range of products.

According to Cal Kantonen, President, " We are now reaching the point where we can completely control all facets of the processing cycle allowing us to overcome many of the obstacles we encountered in the past processing materials with high moisture content such as bio-waste or very hard materials such mineral rock. The two new machines now being built will contain all of these new improvements."

New appointment: The Company is pleased to announce that Dr. Robert Salter, PhD, P.Eng of Mineral Associates Inc., a leading expert and author in the field of mineralogy, is joining the FASC research team. We are extremely pleased to have been able to attract the services of an individual the caliber of Dr. Salter.
