Michael--
I don't think its greedy to expect managers to make money for their shareholders. The quadruple you refer to is a result of management almost killing off the company with the convertible bond fiasco and then coming to its senses and buying its way out. We are still at ~1/3 of our 1992 IPO price, and now that everything has fallen into place (a deal with a major car manufacturer, scooters, cycles, marine, PWC, patent law victories, and no functional problems), it's not unreasonable to demand stock price performance. How to do it? I don't know; if I did I would be in Perth sitting on Schlunke's desk telling him what to do. Insider buying (instead of selling) would certainly send a positive signal to the market. Purchasing a few pages in Forbes or Business Week magazine might lead to some favorable attention by retail investors if not by mutual funds. Possibly they could have found a way to donate an OE-powered vehicle to Ralph Nader's campaign. It bothers me that the guys in Perth seem so tone deaf to what it takes to get American investors interested in a stock. Eventually the stock price will rise when a steady dividend stream is on line. Sooner is better than eventually.
