Hi telecomguy. As far as optics, recent reports including
Dell Oro did not include submarine DWDM.
If you want I can find an article, and statement form Dell Oro.
This year ALA will hit 7 billion in optics.
Alcatel Internetworking division grew 100%, without Newbride
it would be 75%.
Ask yourself question what Nortel would do without buying
for free (300 mil US) OPtera/Cambrian from Newbridge in late 1998......!!!
It will be very difficult for NT to fight ALA in submarine, specially that ALA have much broader solution in this space.
You know very well it is not easy to substitute former vendor.
NT sold its submarine div.( no NT product are involve right now) to ALA, which account on minor part of ALA submarine.
40 gig race is still open question.
I am looking for Sprint (FON) optical contract in coming days.
Did you notice that for the first time ALA become 10+ %
customer of JDSU.
Huge portion of SDLI revenue comes from Alcatel.

Regards
Zbyslaw
