Charles, sorry if you don't mind would like to revisit AMD's flash situation. You have previously stated that AMD should either spin-off or sell their flash division. That is an idea I completely disagree with which you know. Their flash portion of the business is growing like gangbusters and is providing a steadily growing revenue stream. In fact if the chip part of the business were to remain static this quarter either from not making their stated goals of shipping more Athlons or falling ASPs (neither of which I am counting on happening), the flash business alone should provide at least another 5 to 10 cents per share increase. How can this not be a good thing? Sorry, but I don't buy your argument that AMD's share price is being held back by some perception that the company is being treated like a Flash manufacturer only. AMD's biggest problem wrt to share price is IMO past performance and analysts comments that Intel will squash AMD any day now. This is an opinion that I have shared with many others on the thread for quite a long time now. It's been awhile since you discussed this, but after acquiring another long term contract with Nortel today, would like to know what your latest thoughts on this are. Regards Ed P.
