CNET lists Pentium III 800 MHz as the most popular product to buy, while Athlon 800 MHz is #6. But the P3 costs $200 on CNET, while Athlon costs $153.

Intel's Pentium III has been commanding the margins for quite some time, even as AMD continues to slash prices like crazy. Even in the Q3 earnings report, Intel's ASP held steady (as well as their margins), while AMD's ASP actually fell, even though they ramped up big time on Athlon and Duron.

Not bad for a dying P6 core.
