I say ERICY should either divest itself of its dog of a consumer products division or, harvest it's narrow band handsets and leapfrog NOK by introducing 3G handsets ASAP using a new handset group. Don't use anyone responsible for the buttugly handsets they turn out now. Cut that group off now.

By divesting, ERICY will put an ineffective team out of their misery. Harvesting the narrow band handsets will delay the ineffective teams breakup and increase the chance that some of the malignant members will metastasize into other healthy parts of ERICY.

Sure, there's no infrastructure for a 3G handsets but as long as it's backward compatible with narrowband standards, customers can still use them. If they're still working when infrastructure becomes available, and that's a big if, have the service centers upgrade the phones software.

Start fresh with a new consumer products group for the 3G handsets. Don't let anyone from the existing Consumer products group be involved. Either sell them off or, harvest and dead end them.
