I haven't worked on an Origin yet but as I've stated earlier, there is a window of opportunity here to gain market share against both SUNW and HWP while they get their 64-bit OS's together.

64-bit OS's are really irrelevant except for two applications. Huge databases where you need to have more than 4 gig of physical RAM before it matters and scientific computing where, in some cases, 64-bit pointers are useful, even with less than 4 gig of RAM.

As SGI is just now attempting to break into the commercial server market, it is a selling point for the really big machines, but probably not for the majority of deals.

A 64-bit OS makes for marketing fodder, but at least nine times out of ten, it really means nothing to the customer.
