They are courting the religious because they want to win. I don't mind that.
So I guess you also believe that it is alright to "say anything, do anything", just so your guys wins? Bush, on the other hand, is not promising nearly as much except to be a fair and bi-partisan president more interested in doing some good in office, without selling his soul to get in there. And I think he's doing a pretty good job of that so far.
The difference between you and I is that you all but sanction such outright hypocrisy, whereas I do not. I DESPISE EXTREMISM ON EITHER SIDE, conservative or liberal. I despise them because they do not represent the desires and beliefs of the main stream, yet they believe they should have some special right to force their beliefs on others.
Granted, no one candidate has a monopoly on virtue.
However, there is a clear difference when one is willing to violate their own principles solely for the purpose of manipulating people and leading them to believe they care, when in fact, they could care less.
Based upon what you've told us, if you apply your beliefs to your own life, then it is obvious that few people could count on you as anything but a fair weather friend.
But I'm sure that is not the case, now is it?
One thing I can say for you is that at least you're honest when it comes to sanctioning lying in the name of politics. |
