Amoisonic Chooses Conexant's MFP Solution to Expand Into PC Peripherals Market
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2000--Conexant Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNXT) Tuesday announced that Amoisonic Electronics Co., Ltd., China's leading manufacturer of digital video, audio and consumer communication products, has chosen Conexant's MFC 1000 multifunction peripheral (MFP) chipset solution to power the new SohoMate office computer peripherals equipment line.
Amoisonic is the first company in China to implement this solution into a locally originated design.
"China's PC market has been growing rapidly over the past few years, leading to accelerated growth in the peripherals market with a forecast of increased small business and consumer sales moving forward," said Kevin Strong, senior vice president and general manager for Conexant's Personal Imaging Division.
"Our MFC 1000 single-chip design enables manufacturers to quickly and easily develop high-performance products and enter the growing MFP marketplace. By reducing the development cost and time-to-market, our customers will be able to gain a competitive edge in their market segment."
"With nearly 20 years of manufacturing video, audio and communication products, we have decided to expand our business by developing a new computer peripherals product line," said Li Xiaozhong, president of Amoisonic Electronics Co., Ltd.
"In order to break into a new market, we must provide high-quality products. With its industry-leading experience, expertise in modem and image processing technologies and unrivaled support services, Conexant is naturally our choice."
The SohoMate series design is based on Conexant's MFC 1000, a complete, system-on-a-chip solution including hardware, firmware and software from PC drivers to desktop application-level solutions. The solution includes a MFC 1000 controller, inkjet printer interface ASIC, scanner, control panel, IEEE 1284 interface for a PC connection and an interface for memory.
Amoisonic's SohoMate series provides a total paper document solution for the small office and home office market. The initial models are the MFP-9901 and the MFP-9003, 7-in-1 and 3-in-1 multi-function office packages. The MFP-9901 delivers color inkjet printing, photocopy, scan, plain paper fax, PC fax, telephone and answering machine.
The economical MFP-9003 meets the essential inkjet printing, photocopy and scanning needs of home offices. The MFP-9901 and the MFP-9003 models are available now in China. The company also plans to develop products based on this design for the international market and OEM business.
Amoisonic is also currently developing a new design based on Conexant's MFC 2000 next-generation multi-function peripheral solution, which enables advanced, full-color image processing.
For more than 30 years, Conexant has been a leading supplier of fax/modem devices. With more than one million V.34-compliant fax modems shipped, Conexant leads the industry in fax-enabled solutions, and powers three out of every four fax machines worldwide.
