Hello HMK
I believe what you said is true - and has been a given for this company for some time. As I understand it - the development and commercialization of the Sedona software which came out of Lockheed-Martin and perhaps the efforts of others - is only one aspect of that subsidiary. A whole other side is their capacity to acquire and warehouse (i.e.) - a huge inventory of geo-maps related to the digitizing process from Ohio State - and needed by government agencies.

In my understanding of Sedona-Geo's software tools and their application - the simplistic explanation is that they can cleanly overlay and easily manipulate geographical information which is integrated with data bases which are used in a particular business or government activity. This ability to paint an instant visual picture of what's going on is very important to the future of GIS in general. This does not appear to be a novel idea given the development of the computer world today - but the challenge before them is to convince folks of its practical and cost effective integration into what they are doing. Becoming a premier on-line provider of this type of service and!! generating large revenues from it - is likely contingent on growing acceptance of this sort of info gathering, as well as implementing the OGC vision into everyday activities.

I spoke with another analyst in Pennsylvania the other day - who is very impressed with managment (having met with them) - but who cautioned me that they are (so to speak) working out of offices with cardboard boxes stacked all around - meaning - I think - very developmental.

One thing to bear in mind and a good question for the company - is whether or not the life expectancy of their products or the novelty of their technology can withstand a slower than projected uptake of interest from the commercial or government side.

There is an open conference call hosted by Larry Osterwise scheduled for this coming Tuesday May 27th at 4:15 pm EST - the number is 800 369 3342
