"Yesterday it was my biggest percentage gainer. I can't make any sense of the CREE price fluctuations. They maybe based on some mysterious cosmic vibrations"

Yesterday's "cosmic vibration" was due to:
a) the market going up
b) announced a stock split
c) shareholders meeting
d) all of the above

A: if you answered 'all of the above' you are the winner!

As to why CREE has such "massive price fluctuations".
a) the market going down
b) company, historically, puts out very little PR/news to help investors, and potential investors, stay/get excited
c) CREE sports one of the largest short interest (i.e. folks holding shorts) in the market
d) small float exacerbated by 'c'
e) company in tornado with LED's but capacity constrained to fuel that tornado.
f) company only beginning to cross chasm in other market areas (e.g. RF, blue laser, products for the power industry).
g) all of the above

I believe if you answer 'g' to that question you are also a 'winner'. Not feeling much like a 'winner' though after watching my CREE go from 140 to 114 in a heartbeat! I got out there only to watch it go down further. I love this company.. but in a rough market.. ouch! Great long term holding though or a stock to hold in an 'up' market.
