Andreas, <But it's important that it's ofificially "out" to allow benchmark comparisons with P4 favorable for the Athlon. While I don't like paper launches I think from an PR standpoint it's clever and important this time.>

One could have argued the same exact thing when Intel "paper launched" its 1 GHz processor. How often did the Intel-a-bees hear it from the AMDroids who gleefully pointed out the vast availability of 1 GHz Athlons over 1 GHz Pentium III CPUs?

Now before I get flamed, know that I too am no fan of paper launches whatsoever, whether they be from AMD, Intel, Sun, Via, maybe even Sony. I just wanted to point out that, as far as the public is concerned, Intel is being held to a much higher standard here, while AMD can get away with these sorts of tricks.

P.S. - Pentium 4 is already appearing at Pricewatch.com. Maybe Intel is finally cleaning up its act and going back to volume launches? That would indeed be a nightmare for the AMDroids! (To be sure, there weren't any P4 motherboards on Price Watch yet.)
