Brian, don't you think the VSEA SLAPP trial will be interesting?

Here is a synopsis of the conversation that I had with Matt Goeckner, one of Sue Felch's
group members.

George:
As per our conversation:
1)This morning (~9 or 10 AM) Ziwei found that someone had come into the PLAD lab over night
and turned several of the knobs on the BF3 system. This resulted in the BF3 in the regulator
being dumped to the scrubber. Fortunately the person who did it did not open the gas bottle.
Ziwei is the only one currently using the system and he knows which knobs to turn. He was
last using the system ~ 5PM last night.
2) It appears that someone put acid on the exhaust hose from our rough pump to the scrubber.
I discovered that this morning. I do not know when it occurred. The pump, however, is
almost out of pump fluid so it propably occured at least several days ago. As you know, the
pump is outside in what we call the 'dog house'. The old lock on the dog house has been
broken for a long time so anyone could have gotten into it. It now has new lock. I have
the only key. The pump was just rebuilt in April. It is now full of garbage and it is
likely that it will have to be rebuilt again. I have completely shutdown the PLAD system
until we can fully assess the damage.
3) We have had Tygon hoses 'break' three times in the last 3 months. These hoses carried
either N2 or compressed air, both
and do break but usually not at this frequency.
4) I have asked all of the members of the PLAD group to lock all of our labs whenever they are not there.
