X and I often don't agree on political issues, but I think you are missing the point about the white male rule of 200 years. Casually tossing it off as women "not caring" enough to go the distance is either insulting or ignorant on your part. Maybe you are just very young.
Before the 60s and 70s, women and minorities were discriminated against in almost all areas; we were fighting to be able to compete for jobs on far lower levels than the presidency; we just wanted the opportunity to enter professions other than the female "approved" areas of teaching, nursing and social work. Discrimination was rampant and white men were not going to give up their power willingly-and in their defense, they BELIEVED in their right to that power. We were trying to undo the cultural and religious beliefs of hundreds of years.
It is laughable to suggest that a woman could have stepped forward and a major party would have supported her in a bid for high office. Heck, JFK, rich, powerful, white man, even ran into trouble being Catholic.

You are welcome to the opinion that we are now at a point where a woman might be able to run independently, but for you to say the reason that white men have held the power for two hundred years is because women and minorities didn't CARE enough is ludicrous.
