I checked with a local bank on CD rates available for deposit accounts in Euros -- I was amazed at the spread between the rates offered on dollars and Euros -- are rates that much lower in europe? You can get a yr CD in dollars on the high end of 6%, but the equivalent in Euros was about mid 3% -- something makes me think the guys at this bank are getting a little bit off the top besides the amount for conversion ...
