Dave regarding your question "What broadband properties or technologies did GNET have that are helpful to INSP"

As far as I know the only known technologies are some atvef protocols that Zocher has been working on....I have heard reference to some patents but I believe these are pending and nothing official........Go2net also has 20% interest in Digeo Broadband for what that is worth although they are but a startup at this point with no technical properties that have been made public and I don't think at this point exist.........the value of
Go2net to infospace is more in the relationship with Paul Allen and his cable companies...as part of the deal with Digeo that Go2net brings to the table is a commitment to have a Broadband Portal on Charter and other PA cable companies which are 4th largest in USA....this exclusive deal I believe runs 6 years and has pretty good recurring fees attached to it...the broadband portal persay is suppose to be out first quarter of 2001...what exactly it will be remains unknown but will probably be like a go2net homepage as you see it now with some broadband content from some affiliates like techtv......there are sure to be some other goodies otherwise the product would be out now........later in 2001 they suggest they will have a fully interactive tv settop box going but what go2net brings to the table in that regard is very elusive.... ..it has been suggested that some go2net people are working on that but there is no evidence to support that...charter meanwhile has links with wink and I suspect infospace will need to make some more acquisitions to be up to speed in interactive tv....liberate is the company that comes to my mind but I don't think at this point they could afford them.

one other thing infospace was interested in are some of the top engineering talent at go2net.....probably there is something or someone there that really adds to the pie in a way we could never imagine

perhaps that asnwer lies here

hope this helps
