Henry D, as Scott said in the Post following yours, "it is the multiple, not the absolute $ gain. " Percentage change (or gain) from 4 to 80 is 1900% not 2000%. In other words, a one bagger investment became a 20 bagger.

Actually, the High reached by AMAT was 108 3/8 not 116. Now, 108 - 23 = 85. Okay, let's forget about the time premium left,... 85 - 4 (my cost) = 81. Percentage gain from 4 to 81 = 1925%.

Sorry, I don't even recall the symbol anymore so I can't give you the historical chart. Is it WPJAF?
