Q: SOI? Splinter: see some but not significant perf. improv. Will continue to look at it, and do something with it if warranted.

Q: will Intel pursue micromachines and nanotechnology? Watch it, may pursue it. Didn't sound likely to be on the plate any time soon.

Q: Itanium shipping in eval systems for some time. When production?
Paul: New market. In pilot prod. this Q. Customers evaluating continuously: a process, not an event. Sounds like he's saying up to customers when to go production, when they feel comfortable with SW progress.

Q: Optical interface chips? Assigned Albert Yu to that. Electro-optical type devices.

Q: How to stay ahead of competition? (Mostly about mobile). Intend to keep this market. PII to PIII transition done. New products in development, goal to get to 8 - 10 hour battery life.

Q: Enough RDRAM for P4 ramp. Paul: yes. in terms of wafers, finished chips, even mentioned back end testers.

Q: Need 0.13 for units and/or performance crossover with PIII? Paul: both above "on the back of 0.18."

Q: About wafer robot handlers. Who the he-2 sticks asked that?

Wrap with Barrett:

Highlights are rollout of 2 new product families: P4 for desktop and mobile (not right away, mobil, my comment); plus Itanium for servers. Reiterated high teens revenue growth rate.

Ze end.
