doug, I applaud you for your admission, "I've been much harder on Jerry than he deserved," most here would never back-peddle like that and it is refreshing.

Another thing to keep in mind is that AMD has had a practice of telling the analysts relatively little, and the public relatively a LOT. For example: AMD always tells us how many CPU's they sold, gives ASP guidance to within a couple $. They give these estimates and actuals publicly in their conference calls not privately.

The analysts would rather have AMD call them up and tell them these facts, but, guess what, AMD's style is now becoming THE LAW. Any hard feelings that built up between AMD and the analyst crowd should be mitigated by the forthcoming change of law about disclosure and by the fact that the architect of AMD's public relations ("external affairs") policy, Fran Barton (VP of Ex.A.), has retired.
