Were Rambus to win in court, the RAM companies would separate their IP from their manufacturing so that they each would have an IP only operating unit. I believe you are right here, dan. Not quite sure how this would help getting out from under Rambus' pressure, but very interested to hear more. I noticed that Intel and HP have already formed an IP company for the patented parts of the Itanium instruction set. (IDEA or something) That looks a bit like the structure you are referring to.
