companies would separate their IP from their manufacturing so that they each would have an IP only operating unit.
I believe you are right here, dan. Not quite sure how this would help getting out from under Rambus' pressure, but very interested to hear more.

I noticed that Intel and HP have already formed an IP company for the patented parts of the Itanium instruction set. (IDEA or something) That looks a bit like the structure you are referring to.

Cheers

In all due respect you are both full of s**t.
RMBS has the locks and the rest are cross-licensed.
The all produce nothing without RMBS IP.
They can not spin off something that is probably cross-licensed for years.

I have pointed this out to Dan but he insists on repeating this bullshit. Now he has got you hooked on it, Cor.

Tell me please how they all decide all of a sudden to not cross-license? Please tell me how.

Assuming one company's cross license agreements end early, and wants to spin off, will the others allow it? Even if so, they all produce NOTHING unless they have a quick way around RMBS IP. They have been trying to do that for 6 years now and have failed miserably twice, SLDRAM and DDR.

What a joke, and Dan keeps spreading this shit.
