TIGER BLASTS ROY JONES

Undefeated WBO lightheavyweight champion Dariuz Michelczewski will make the 18th defense of his world title against Detroit's KaDy King (24-3) on December 16 in Essen, Germany. The champion said, "King is a good fighter. His style is similar to Mark Prince" (whom the Tiger beat in 1998). Also confirmed for the card is Regina Halmich. A defense by WBC cruiser champion Juan Carlos Gomez has been rumored.

Next year Michalczewski, 42-0 (35 KOs), is still hoping for a showdown against Roy Jones. "I can't believe Roy Jones is still running from me. He must understand that he is about to lose his credibility in the world of boxing altogether. Sometimes he talks about fighting at heavyweight, sometimes he speaks about going down in weight to fight the small Brit Calzaghe. I even heard he wants to fight Trinindad, the former welterweight champion. Jones should be ashamed to think about fighting guys as little as Trinidad and at the same time to avoid his biggest opponent: Me, the true, the linear light heavyweight world champion."

LPS5 note: AMEN, brother!!!!!!!!

It was also announced that Promoter Klaus-Peter Kohl has made a winner-take-all offer to Roy Jones to entice Jones to agree to a fight with Michalczewski, but the offer was turned down.

LPS5 note II: At least Golota got into the ring...
