i have never gotten a straight answer - either from avanex or from avanex rooters on these threads and on chat rooms - as to what avanex is selling, in what quantities and to whom. correct me if i am wrong: the companies you list from the september 10k are buying either a nicely designed and fabricated switch (nice in the scientific sense), or they bought test samples of the VIPA (virtually imaged phased array) based products, such as the PowerMux. but no one has ordered, much less bought, the VIPA products in quantity. it is the tunability of the VIPA's that sets avnx apart. Perhaps it has not been perfected yet for scalability. Note that i say "correct me if i'm wrong". i want to be wrong. i'm not trying to be a wiseguy. i'm trying to be informed.
Another mystery about avnx: The VIPA was first invented by a research fellow at Furukawa. Simon Cao added to it, and avnx told me they share the patent with Furukawa. They've never told us what happens if the VIPA products hit a home run: does Furukawa get half? Until I get some answers the present about $100 a share rests - in my opinion -on a puff of smoke.
