<g> I think I know where you're going here, Rose...
I have a 1998 Nissan Frontier King Cab pick-up truck.
Why?
#1 reason for pick-up: house (in urban area -- not out in the sticks or anything, but still) to maintain ... hauling mulch, etc ... buying/selling furniture when I bought the place. (Has nothing to do with the fact that I live in TX ... contrary to stereotypical thinking, I would imagine, in other parts of this country ... i.e. 'everyone who lives in Texas is a stupid redneck' ... <g>)
#2 reason for particular model/brand: Inexpensive. I paid cash for it new off the dealership lot. With an eye (always) towards cutting back on the good old cash flow -- needless interest paid on financing new vehicles, etc)
#3 reason: reliable, low/no maintenance transportation -- across town or country -- I drove it to/from Atlanta, for example. Nissan, like Honda (I had two Honda Accords for five carefree years each on long-term leases before I got the truck) ... known for quality. Long term. Gas mileage great (it's small/5-speed manual -- no fancy extras -- does have all the basics, of course, i.e. air conditioning)
I'm just this kind of practical, no-status type ... LOL. I hate the status-conscious.
I'm just having some time late tonight to read posts etc...there is another phenomenon I'm observing regarding message board 'culture' that I find 'fascinating' <g> and want to post about here ... your posts of last night reminded me of it ...
(Think we might have a bit better day tomorrow, Rose? On Naz. I sure hope so -- via INTC ... geez, sure hope we see some longer term positive action ... scary times).
