Network Appliance, Inc. President Tom Mendoza Joins NARUS Board of Directors
Business Wire - November 01, 2000 09:05
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 1, 2000--Thomas F. Mendoza, president of Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP), has joined the Board of Directors of NARUS, Inc.

NARUS, the leading provider of business infrastructure systems and software to make the Internet profitable, gives IP service providers the intelligence they need to implement and manage new services and business models profitably. Network Appliance is the leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions.

"The future of the Internet depends on the ability of carriers and service providers to develop profitable business models," said Mendoza. "NARUS has the only technology that delivers this capability to be profitable."

Mendoza joined Network Appliance in 1994. He was initially responsible for North American sales and then became senior vice president of sales and marketing. Mendoza built the company's worldwide sales and marketing organizations, focused on delivering data management and content delivery solutions to the company's global customer base. He has over 26 years of high-technology experience. Mendoza has held various senior-level management positions at Auspex, Stratus Computer, Data General, and Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys). He holds a B.S. degree in economics from the University of Notre Dame and is an alumnus of the Stanford Business School's Executive program. Mendoza currently serves on the Board of Directors for Netscreen Technologies and is a guest lecturer at Stanford Business School. He and his wife recently endowed the business school at the University of Notre Dame, which has been renamed the Mendoza College of Business.

NARUS' president and CEO, Mark Stone, believes that Mendoza brings an important perspective to NARUS' board. "At Network Appliance, Tom has been faced with some of the same challenges that NARUS is encountering. Network Appliance has a similar customer base, and also had to create a new product category," said Stone. "We are very fortunate to have Tom add his marketing expertise to our board, which includes, among others, Edward Kozel, formerly CTO and now a member of the board for Cisco Systems. These are two of the industry leaders who are really determining the direction of the Internet."

About NARUS, Inc.

NARUS achieved its pre-eminent position by developing a broad-based platform that drives a wide range of mission-critical applications, from decision support to billing. The NARUS Internet business infrastructure platform represents the only complete, end-to-end solution available to carriers and service providers today. Underlying the platform is the unique NARUS semantic traffic analysis technology, with patents pending, the only such technology in existence that provides total visibility into all Internet applications.
