The Eagles won the NFL Championship in 1960 when I was a two month old. I don't believe I recall that :)

They were pretty horrible and didn't even make the playoffs until my freshman year in college........ That was the year the Falcons beat the Iggles in the wild card game 14-13
Philly's punter turned kicker (Mike Michel) missed a 34 yard field goal with no time left. (Philly's regular kicker (Nick Mick Mayer got hurt down the stretch & Vermiel never replaced him - Big mistake)

All the Philly teams were at or close to the top - Phillies, Sixers, Flyers, & Eagles during that time

I remember a Life magazine that ran in spring 1981 which featured a picture of a representative of each of the teams (Jaworski, Erving, Tug McGraw & the Flyers goalie at the time (I'm struggling trying to remember the name; It was between Bernie Parent & Pelle Lindbergh)

The caption was entitled "City of Champions"....Each of the teams had advanced to the finals. Unfortunately, only the Phillies won it all.

The late '70s & early '80s were probably the best of times for sports in the Philly area
