Laura, you are a newbie here. . . so I will take it you just don't understand. As it clearly states in the thread header. . . . We trade TECH STOCKS!!
Everyone is expected to hold a well-distributed portfolio of bonds, foreign funds, a large variety of equities, currencies, gold and cash. Likewise, everyone is expected to get their stock advice from a licensed Financial Advisor. All tax questions should be directed to a Tax Advisor or Certified Public Accountant. And questions of estates and trusts should be directed to an Estate Planning Attorney.
Meanwhile, when putting together a group of tech stocks, our current recommendation is to hold no less than 50 different tech stocks. I've collected many more than that. And at no time should any single stock ever reach more than 10% of your portfolio. 5% allocation on a single tech stock is considered risky.
So we on the HOME thread assume that everyone here knows and understands these rules. So when we address questions regarding tech stocks within portfolios, the above rules are "understood". This frees us up to concentrate on the tech part of a portfolio. The current Long Portfolio for the HOME thread holds 50 tech stocks. Anyone holding less than this number of techs fully understands the additional risk they are taking. These risks have been discussed here at length many times. Many here hold only ONE STOCK in their entire portfolio. That is their choice. I have preached about it ad nauseum.
If you have not read the past 40,000 posts, you should either pose your comments in the form of a question, go back and read the 40,000 or at the least, give us the benefit of the doubt that we are not morons here. I would also appreciate your not writing messages "between the lines" of your post. If you are wanting to get out a message to the thread, say it. If you have a comment to me, drop me a PM or an email at Rande@writeme.com. I will happily answer your concerns in due time.
Thanks,
