While it is highly likely that Gore will lose this one, I am not ready for the post mortem yet. Personally, I just cringe at the thought of Dubya being the president and I am not convinced that he is a man of substance. If he proves me wrong in his first year, I will be pleasantly surprised.
Gore has a very long history, success and mistakes included. Bush does not have sufficient history as far as I am concerned. His handlers have done an excellent job selling the candidate to the electorate by marketing his strengths and charm. Al Gore's handlers have not projected their candidate consistently.
