Jamoke Re..<<<In Jerry's, I would think that the primary goal of a CEO is to promote the interests of his company, rather than dismissing whoever happens to piss him off personally.

Several posts back I asked for links where anyone could justify Dougs argument against Jerry. The only link I got was this.

<<: [Jerry Sanders] Well, first of all, I can't imagine a single one of our customers having said that. Rob, do you have any idea what this guy could be talking about?>>

Thats it. So far all I have gotten is one sentence which doesn't even remotely smack of anger much less a vendetta. Which CEO wouldn't defend his company and its products; and would you want that guy as your CEO. Do you really think the stock price would have jumped if Jerry had said something like; "Yes I heard that too. We intend to engage in a price war." I am sure that would have really gave the stock a boost. According to you,the CEO should tell the analyst what he wanted to hear and isn't that what that analyst wanted to hear. That analysts drew that conclusion before he asked Jerry that question, with or without Jerry saying so.

But responding by having a vendetta against analysts is self-defeating.

Before I can respond to that, I need some evidence their even is a vendetta. Wouldn't calling that sentence evidence of a vendetta be like me claiming that a parent is a child beater because he spanked his child once. That previous sentence doesn't even fit the standard of a angry response much less the word vendetta. Surely all of you Jerry bashers can come up with a better example than that. How about any analyst who claimed Jerry was deferential to him. Can you even come up with that? Without proving that a vendetta exists, the rest of your letter is baseless.

<<Hector Ruiz may not have the 'fire' Jerry does, but he doesn't bring this kind of personality problem as a liability either, and I'd rather see him in charge, as it bodes much better IMO for healing the rift with the analytic community to AMD's advantage. <<

You really seem to be diving off of the deep end here. I can see you endorsing Hector for the CC; but to say Jerry is an unfit executive because of how you interpret that one sentence is ridiculous. There are many criteria more important than that when you judge the competency of the CEO. Hector is just starting to learn about AMD. He may be good, but he isn't that good yet.
