Rman, I could be wrong (not a first) but believe I read recently that normal offspring from transgenic females have 50% chance of carrying forward the desired protein product. This would seem to be higher payoff than cloning (a low yield, high cost operation as I understand it). However, if a super-high-yield female could be cloned easily, that would be different and very significant.
