Here is the original post, "Confessions of a Paid Basher" from Raging Bull. . . .before the multitude of edits, etc. which have made their rounds of cyberspace. . .

ragingbull.altavista.com

Note that when you scroll all the way to the bottom of the original post. . . it claims that the "confession" is a hoax.

But let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Those of you who have never seen the sort of wars that can break out on stock symbol threads between the loyal long investors [bag holders?] with dollar signs of hope in their eyes. . . and the paid bashers who work for short-sellers with dollar signs of doubt in their eyes. . . owe it to yourself to attend one of these wars. . .like the one on BIFS on Raging Bull at:
ragingbull.altavista.com

Notice the high rate of posters with 4 dollar signs. This is due to the unlimited number of identities which Raging Bull allows. So a group of say 2 bashers could post under 50 or more different identities. . . all of which would be represented by 4 dollar signs [the highest regard on RB] because each of their identities People Marks each of the other identities.

Such a show of "power" can cause enough doubt and fear in a stock to squash the strongest of momentums.

Now the reason we are not likely to see such a confession of a basher. . .is that such companies require employees to sign contracts which swear them to secrecy about the goings on within the company. They could face stiff lawsuits, penalties [or worse!] should they break this code of silence.

The movie "Boiler Room" was most certainly based on fact. There are many such companies which pay young people to hype one stock . . . and bash another . . . often within arms reach of one another.

Manipulation is alive and well. And over the coming years, we will explore deeper into its inner workings.
