Corporal: You got it wrong. Big time wrong. The two gal Repub senators from Maine might as well be Democrats on a lot of issues. They're both pro-choice and broke with the Repubs on one or both of the impeachment votes. Voinovich of Ohio also is breaking away more and more from the mainstream Repubs and joining McCain in attacking rampant Republican pork-barrel spending.

Also consider this, Mr. Might is Right: If McCain does not get his way with campaign finance reform, he will, in effect, break away from the Republican Party, and likely take others with him. So you may end up having 48 Dem senators, 46 GOP senators and 6 senators in McCain's camp.
You better hope that Georgie and McCain, right now, are in agreement on campaign finance reform. If they ain't, then it's gonna be mega-gridlock in the Senate, and the Dems would sweep every race from president to Tampa dogcatcher in '04.
