Hi Andrew, about BBTK. I am not saying the technology is bad. I spoke to these guys at length about 10 days ago. I am simply saying their technology depends on Fiber To The Curb (FTTC) and in my opinion that's not going to happen anytime soon. Intel & Lucent may disagree with me, but I don't think the telcos are going to spend the money if they can provide good service with xDSL and the cable companies don't have the money even if they wanted to spend it...

During the same conference, I asked Lucent why they didn't want to keep Paradyne (this was before the sell announcement). The reply was they didn't really think xDSL would solve the problem. Today I hear Lucent is looking at possible partnerships for ADSL (this is 2nd hand, so I can't vouch for it). But if it's true, it means within 10 days they got convinced that ADSL is real and is going to take off with or without LUCENT because IT's the cheapest thing to implement that doesn't have FLOWS!
