Actually, the Cole is an Arleigh Burke class destroyer, carrying most of the same capabilities of an Aegis class cruiser with regard to air defense. It is EXTREMELY MODERN in design.

Yes but the air defense ability was pretty useless in this case..

My point was that the Arleigh Burke class ships are supposed to have a pretty rugged design. They are smaller then the Aegis cruisers but I think they have a thicker hull.
