RE: "Before W2K came out, Win NT had been losing market share in the server class for about a year."

Hi GV,
WinNT didn't have any market share to speak of when it was first released. Everything was Novell. Yet, Brian Valentine made WinNT into a winning industry solution - slowly but surely. Let's hope he'll do it again, but with Win2k this time.

More history: when NT was released, LanManager (a Microsoft NOS product) was certainly losing market share, but NT took over as the industry leader, which demonstrates that MS is willing to let a temporary loss occur in order to build a foundation for a successful and more permanent gain.

Regards,
Amy J
