44magnumpower,

VIA plans to introduce a DDR SDRAM chipset for the Pentium 4, dubbed PX266

At most, another temporary win for via. Notice that even though via won the PIII chipset mkt share war with their SDR-133 chipset while intc was mucking around with the i820 and i840, it was a short victory : the i815 with SDR-133 eventually clawed back most of the mkt share they lost.

So, via's PX266 will only keep their mkt share lead for the P4 until intel's ddr-266 chipset arrives. It's very hard to fight intel when they know what they are doing, you win only when they stumble. And they fight dirty too.

Strange thing --- market forces.
