As I stated in my earlier post, the development of the multi-user, server, has changed the ball
game for Sand's and H.D.S. dramaticaly. Since there are so many bed partners so to speak,
it would not be hard to conjucture as to who is doing beta testing. I think what is more important
is who has been exposed to the nuclues prior to the developement of the multi version. For I
would guess that those companies who bought or leased the system in the single thread format
would receive the updated version at no cost (IMHO).
As indicated in the most recent news release dated May 19 (are we behind the news curve or what)
H.D.S. is ready to run with the product. This release should be a prelude to a formal announcement
some time soon I hope.
The potential market for data mininig and storage is huge. A recent article by A.G.Edwards states," the
existing client/server data warehouse market has grown from virtually nothing in 1991 to
approximately $1.5 billion in 1996 and to an estimated $6.9 billion by 1999, according to the Meta Groupe.
At present, there is no competitive product available."
Now for conjucture, IBM and Hitachi work closely together on software programing for there client lists.
When Sand's down sized several years ago, numerous numbers of their employees went to work for
IBM. IMHO IBM knows all about the nucleus. Add their main frame list to Hitachi's and you have an installed base of over
25,000 IBM and IBM compatible mainframe sites in operation.
In the meeting with Mr. Richie he stated, that one of the potential biggest customers could be the federal government.
If I can recall H.D.S. in a public news release has obtained the agreement to update the federal social security system.
There is also a news release as of May 22/97, that the Bank of Montreal choose Digital's link works and the web to expand application
across the enterprise, for the purchase of up to six thousand user licenses. Now I know Digital can not sell the nuclues, I believe they have
have H.D.S. and Sand's phone number. I believe Digital is also doing a simular up date for Citi Corp world wide. Nation's bank has been doing
business with H.D.S. for years. Lockheed has a member on Sand's board. E.D.S. also has a place in here. You can draw any conclusions
you want from this information and
you would be doing what I have done, CONJECTURE. And that is who is sleeping with who and who get's to sell and who does not. There are
alot of senerios you can draw up from some of this and other information Sand's has seen to release or not release.
The potential for a product like this is great, and IMHO Mr. Richie and all of his bed partners will not let this opportunity fade away. You have to also
remember that Kevin Horigan managed sales and marketing at Oracle before joining Sand's.
There are a ton of doors that can be opened with the group that is in place in Canada and California. As Mark wrote in his post on Aug 28 1996, reply #68
I quote,"Arthur Richie-is superb at his deal making. Arthur is a brillant strategist and technolgy visionary-one of the best that I have had the good fortune to know
during my 2 decades in this industry." All the players in this game are extemey intelligent, motivated, and driven (for what ever purpose), and therefore I believe if
they have what they say they have and it does so appear, that quiet possibly next week could be the start of something great, or should I say already started

good trading

Let's rock and roll
