Thanks for the S! The real issue is that there is no alternative to RDRAM as the clock rates mount. DDR (if it can be made to work) will end up in the value segment of the market as it will quickly run out of bandwidth as the processor clock rates move through two GHZ.

It appears to be easier to engineer RDRAM than it is to engineer DDR. RDRAM took about 4 years (1991-1995) to deliver while DDR has been in development since 1996 and is still not launched (5 years).

It takes about 5 years to get a new standard and there is simply nothing else on the horizon to displace RDRAM.
