NightOwl,

Dave I was beginning to think my efforts were for naught! Glad you got a rise out of it.

It was just fun comparing your predictive abilities to Jdaasoc's <G>.

Then again maybe they insisted on a clause to give them a refund - or at least an out - if RMBS loses any of their pending suits. You just never know.

Any company that doesn't have a "payment of royalties ceases if the aforementioned patents are declared invalid" clause in their contracts deserves to pay Rambus royalties forever. The big question is whether anyone (Micron) is really going to push it all the way with everyone else admitting that the Rambus patents are enforceable. They might -- I was surprised to see that they're not going to introduce a P4 system. Here's where I think emotions are getting in the way as I'd guess they're not doing solely because they don't want to sell RDRAM-based systems (anymore, that is). Just my guess, though.

Dave

<edit: Just saw that Elpida signed. We're way beyond the "drip, drip, drip" phase on DDR and SDRAM royalties.>
