Organized labor would, presumably, solicit money from its members for political activity. If the members are persuaded, they will vote with their wallets.

I did not specifically object to closed shops, which might make sense in certain instances. I merely observed a by- product.

If labor can get induce more workers to join, it will have greater resources. It is your job to get locals, not Congresses job to muzzle someone for you.

My wife used to be the president of the staff council at a college, and sometimes the administration behaved badly enough they threatened to unionize. I am aware that management is not always fair. I am not anti- union. I am not romantic about unions either.

As I said, if you want to gain clout, organize.
