Enjoy and find your drilling posts very informative, well-thought out and researched. I print some of them out even tho' a Netscape/printer driver conflict crashes my system back to square one 9 times out of 10 when I attempt to print off the net.
I recall going to the bedroom to watch "The Prize" on PBS awhile back (The Spouse wasn't as fascinated as I was by the story.) Finding
it (him...Yergin) to be a solid source for your information will
drive me very soon to a bookstore to pick up the book. From where, if it's a source you would share, do you 'follow' CERA's output?
Gas to liquid...sounds like aways off right now, but technology
these days has a way of succeeding faster than most would think
possible when the monetary reasons are in place to drive it.
Electronic travel...Buck Rogers stuff? (that should date me!)
I'm not ready to discount it out of hand just yet, the problems
caused by fossil fuels, highway under-capacity, sprawling development,
etc. will drive tele-commuting and travel to be ascendant, whether
it's liked or not. How soon? Beats me too, but I can't discount it
just because it doesn't sound palatable to me.
In the meantime, short- and medium-term, supply vs. demand curves
will keep me interested in energy stocks until an unforeseen occurence
bites me in the portfolio.
It's a very small portfolio right now, as I'm trying to fathom the
intricacies of self-directed investing, and refuse to bet the ranch,
but I am long a tiny amount of GLM, and view it as a five year minimum
hold, core holding, with ~equal amounts in a couple of tech offerings.
Suppose I've meandered around verbally enough for now...what the heck, it's the weekend...
