A well-reasoned reply, but I still disagree on one point. It is indeed Congress's job to keep the playing field somewhat even. We have seen abuses by both labor and Big Business within the past 60 years. I think the balance that exists now is basically fair. The '90s was a decade relatively free of major labor strife. Some laws on the books tilt a bit to labor, others on the books tilt a bit to business. The danger of giving a firm push in either direction is that it begins a series of counter-punching by whichever political party comes to power every two to four years. Besides, with the ranks of organized labor being thinned considerably over the past 10 years, mainly by the export of factory jobs to Latin America and overseas, there is no need for Big Business to become paranoid.
